Manchester United – Wesley Sneijder move could be renewed next window.
"Mourinho called me and he told me to stay. He has an Inter heart and he has always told me to remain," Sneijder told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I am happy to have stayed because I never wanted to leave and so I no longer want to speak about Manchester United."
But the paper is reporting that Sneijder still thinks a move to United is possible in January, if the parties can agree to an acceptable deal over his transfer fee and wage. The Dutchman is currently on £200,000 a week, an amount that no United player comes close to, and is said to be worth around £30 million.
"Wesley wanted to go to United and was in negotiations until quite late. They couldn't agree terms but he is still saying he will end up at United,” a source said.
Speculation was certainly rife that Sir Alex Ferguson might make a shock last-minute move for Sneijder, but the manager was spectacularly quiet on deadline day, sticking to his three June signings to bolster the United squad for the season ahead.
